Overview
The New Business Development Director is a direct field sales, business development position.  The primary focus of this critical outside sales position is to sell our industry-leading array of products and solutions direct to corporations. The NBDD will be an absolute hunter who will prospect, find and develop 100% new business from fresh clientele. In some cases, the incumbent will be assigned new sales responsibility on existing client accounts to increase revenue over current run rates.  The main goal of this position is to meet and preferably exceed new business quotas.
 
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
·         Develop sales mastery of products and quickly become self sufficient in presenting products to interested parties
·         Leverage inbound leads, existing customer relationships and any existing business contacts to generate constant activity and develop a new business pipeline that equates to approximately 3X the annualized quota / gross margin revenue budget.
·         Contact and visit identified accounts to establish themselves as the senior sales contact for all sales issues.
·         If applicable, maintain close customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction with solutions, identify new and emerging customer needs.
·         Inform existing customers of new product and service offerings.  Sell product upgrades, training, and service opportunities to current customers
·         Facilitate sales efforts, maintain customer and lead records on our corporate database and contact management system and prepare sales and sales tracking reports as required.
·         Develop and make presentations to Clients and Prospects regarding our products and services.
·         When required, assist sales and sales support representatives by serving as a liaison between customers and appropriate company departments to resolve customer issues.
·         Other duties as assigned.
 
Requirements
  • Proven track record of sales success in a software, SaaS or PaaS offering or similar web services offering.
  • Professional discipline, dedication motivation to self-manage and rise beyond level of adequate performance and standard expectation.
  • Ability to thrive in an esoteric, niche market and quickly become a SME.
  • Preferred knowledge in any of the following areas:  Business Intelligence solutions, Geographic Information Systems, and Data Quality/Data Transformation solutions.
  • Documented expertise in any of our primary vertical industries, retail/CPG, financial services, retail banking, QSR/FSR/LSR, telecommunications or real estate.
  • Preferred experience with outside sales in the Marketing Service Provider, Data Provider or Marketing Analytics (not web analytics) space.
  • Effective working with all levels of business and technology stakeholders, including the ‘C’ level in large organizations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, sales or marketing or equivalent training in business or sales management, plus a minimum of five years of experience in solution and software account management. 
  • Must have demonstrated project management skills.
  • Must be a polished professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • PC and internet skills required, particularly Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel up to 40 to 60%.
